Updating Content
A piece of content can be linked to many products and orders, so you only have to update it in one place. Every product and order that delivers it gets the change straight away, including past orders.
Editing its details
Change a piece of content's name, its display name (what customers see), and for a link, its URL and size.
Fixing a link's URL is the way to repair a broken link: every customer who has it gets the working address from then on.
Replacing a file
Replace a file when you release a new version, such as an updated installer or a corrected PDF. The new file takes the old one's place everywhere: on every product it's linked to, and on every past order. Customers download the new version from then on.
It's still the same piece of content, so its links, download history, and every customer's download count carry over.
Replacing a file can't be undone, and the old file is gone for good. To keep both versions, add the new version as new content instead, and link it alongside the old one, or in its place.
To let customers know about a new version, put the version in the display name, such as "Photo Pack v2.2".
