Editing an Order

Most orders never need editing: the app handles assigning content and license keys automatically, and handles returns, refunds and disputes on its own. Editing is for handling the exceptional cases, or delivering Custom Content. Open the order and choose Edit Order from the actions menu.

What you can change

Content

  • Add/Link Content Add new content or link content from your library to one line item: a custom product, a replacement file, or a bonus.
  • Unlink Content Remove old or stale content from a line item.
  • Reset a limit to give the customer a fresh download limit or time limit on one piece of content.
  • Revoke or Restore Access to one piece of content.
note

Content that comes from the product can't be unlinked from a single order, because that link delivers it on every order of that product. To take it away from one customer, revoke their access to it instead. See Linking Content.

License keys

  • Add Keys. Pick one of the product's available keys, or add a new key.
  • Return Keys This will revoke access from the customer, but leave the key assigned to the order so that it can not be reassigned.
  • Undo a Return to give a returned key back to the customer.
  • Restock Keys Remove a key from the line item and put it back in the available keys pool. See Returning and Restocking Keys.
  • Delete a key. Completely delete the key from your app. See Deleting License Keys.

Line items

  • Revoke or Restore Customer Access without treating it as a return. See Revoke Customer Access.
  • Undo Return on a Line Item If a line item is returned by mistake, remove returned status to give the customer access again.

Activity logs

Delete log entries, such as reveals and downloads you made yourself while testing an order. See Customer Activity.

caution

Deleted log entries can't be recovered, and they're your evidence that the customer downloaded content or revealed license keys.

Edits and Order Reconciliation

Saving a change to a license key, or returning or un-returning a line item, turns off order reconciliation for that order. Otherwise the daily sync would see the order no longer matches Shopify and undo your edits.

Content changes do not turn it off. Revoking or restoring access, unlinking, and resetting limits are the app's own resources, which Shopify has no record of, so syncing never touches things related to content.

You can turn reconciliation back on for the order, but the next sync may then undo your manual changes.
