Deleting Products

Deleting a product removes it from Digital Content Manager. It doesn't touch the product in Shopify.

Deleting affects customers who already bought the product

Deleting a product, or a variant, removes everything the app knows about it, including on past orders:

  • Its license keys, including keys already assigned to customers, along with their reveal logs and history.
  • Its line items on every order. Customers who bought it lose access to its downloads and license keys on their order status page.
  • Its download history and its settings.

Your content stays in your library. Only its links to this product are removed.

This can't be undone. Configuring the product again starts from scratch, and doesn't bring back past orders or keys.

Disable it instead

If you've stopped selling a product, or want to pause it, disable it rather than deleting it. Disabling stops new orders from being processed, while every customer who already bought it keeps their downloads and keys, and you keep their history. See Enabling and Disabling.

To take a product away from particular customers, revoke their access on their orders.

When deleting makes sense

  • You configured the wrong product by mistake, and it has no orders yet.
  • You're cleaning up a test product.

You can delete one product or variant, or several at once. Deleting a variant leaves the rest of the product and its other variants as they are.

Products deleted in Shopify

If you delete a product in Shopify, the app keeps it and marks it Deleted. Customers who bought it keep their access. You can delete it from the app too if you no longer need its history.
